All you wanted to know about Jason Fraser — the “governor” (webmaster) of varos.net — but were probably afraid to ask…

Full Name:
Jason Bremner [David on my baptism certificate] Fraser
Date of Birth:
5th March 1979 - I’m a Pisces
Height:
Does the response from a net-friend on seeing me for the first time (”Geez, Jason you’re tall!”) answer your question? I’m 193cm (6′4″) tall
Weight:
Another good question… Pass! :-)
Hair colour:
Light to medium brown, long enough now to put in a short pony-tail. (I’m trying to emulate the “Ranma” look :-) )
Eye colour:
Blue-grey
Glasses?
Yes! Had them since I was 8. I’ve got an astigmatism in one of my eyes.
Dress sense:
I would have to say “smart casual” - jeans, polo shirts, dress pants occasionally. I have been known to wear a suit and tie, but it has to be something really special or important.
Present location:
At my desk… Seriously, I live in a suburb of Sydney Australia.
Current House Status:
I live alone, in my own brand new place. (I’ll try to get some photos up eventually…
Pets?
A dog: A female cattle-kelpie cross named Rebel (family pet)
Occupation:
“Computer Techie-type person” is probably the best description. I work for a cartography firm in Sydney, keeping their network going and doing general tech-support type things. I’m also learning the fine “art” of computer cartography.
Other/Past Jobs:
- Co-host of a community radio program
- Computer Sales and Support Technician at a large computer superstore
- Sales Gatherer for Reupholstery Company
- Freelance graphic / web design
Interests/Hobbies
- Playing with my computer
- Compulsive web page design altering - aka “Jondar’s disease”
- Watching television - sci-fi, britTV and anime especially
- Reading books
- Collecting DVDs: I have over 250 now. See my collection
- Collecting badges/tie pins
- Obsessive fan-fiction reading.
Doctor Who?
Love it!
Favourite Doctor(s) and Companions(s):
I like all the Doctors, but if I had to choose, it would be a toss up between Tom Baker, Peter Davison and Colin Baker. Even though I’ve only seen six minutes worth of David Tennant’s Doctor, I have to say he’d be getting up there for joining the other three as a favourite. As for companions: Mel (don’t shoot me!), Romana I, Sarah-Jane and Turlough.
Favourite Doctor Who story(ies):
Most 6 parters - especially The Invasion of Time and The Armageddon Factor. The Five Doctors, Time and the Rani (again, don’t shoot me! :-) ), Caves of Androzani, Planet of Fire, Battlefield, Pyramids of Mars
Star Trek?
Watched most of it, don’t like it as much as Doctor Who though. I prefer Deep Space Nine over the others.
Other TV Shows?
Heehee… don’t get me started on this: The Tomorrow People, Suddenly Susan, ‘Allo ‘Allo, Waiting for God, Babylon 5, South Park, Fawlty Towers, Keeping Up Appearances, The Simpsons, Hetty Wainthrop Investigates, I could go on and on and on… and since getting Foxtel satellite TV, I’ve been strolling down memory lane seeing shows I liked years ago :)
Anime?
OK, OK, I’ll admit it. I’m an otaku :-) I was brain-washed… err… introduced to anime probably at around age 7. I blame the combined forces of the Seven Network’s Cartoon Connection (anyone remember that?) and ABC-TV’s afternoon childrens programming for this. Of course, I didn’t know it was anime then, it was just cool cartoons like Voltron, Robotech and Ulysses 31. I probably became actively interested in anime again in mid-2001, when I bought my first anime DVD (the first Neon Genesis Evangelion disc, FWIW. Since then, I can’t get enough of it! Faves at the moment include: Ranma Nibunnoichi (1/2), the various Tenchi Muyo! variants, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Rurouni Kenshin. Get me on a good day, and I’ll even admit to liking some of the more “childish” stuff too… :-)
Sports:
I have played both cricket and tenpin bowling competitively in the past, though not at the same time. (see below for more info). I also enjoy swimming (though I don’t swim as often as I would like). I have been known to watch other sports on TV…
Cricket:
Played 4 seasons around the time I was in high school. High Score: 134 not out. Best Bowling: 6/21 off 13 overs. (Americans: find me on the ‘net and if you have a spare couple of years, bug me to attempt to explain the rules of the game to you :-) )
Ten Pin Bowling:
Played for 9 years, but am now taking a break from regular league type play. I represented Parramatta, Bankstown and Hornsby in tournaments and normal league play. Highest score: 257. Best Average: 173
Did you find Fluffy?
Unfortunately no, He’s been lost for nigh on six years now. I’ve even resorted to “missing” posters around town. Any reports of his location are appreciated! :-)
